Bottom Up Impact
Building the systems behind a stronger food economy.
Bottom Up Impact brings together the stakeholders, infrastructure, finance, technology and market connections needed to strengthen local food systems.
The Core Idea
Stronger food systems need stronger connections.
Food-system challenges rarely exist in isolation. Reliable production needs infrastructure. Infrastructure needs energy and investment. Producers need access to markets. Markets need reliable supply. Communities need access to information, technology and opportunities. Bottom Up Impact works across these connections, bringing stakeholders and resources together to develop practical systems that work on the ground.
Our Role
We connect what needs to work together.
Bottom Up Impact serves as a bridge between communities, government and institutions, infrastructure and technology, finance and investment, and markets and businesses. Our role is not to own or directly provide every component — it's to bring the relevant actors, resources and capabilities together around a shared opportunity.
What We Do
From local opportunity to functioning food systems.
Bottom Up Impact combines several interconnected interventions to respond to food-system needs. Hover any area to see how it connects to the others.
Stakeholder Convening & Governance
Creating platforms that align farmers, government, businesses, financiers and technology providers around shared opportunities.
Productive Clean Energy
Deploying modular clean-energy systems for productive agricultural uses such as cold storage, irrigation and processing.
Digital Connectivity & Hubs
Connecting communities to digital services, information, training, data and market opportunities.
Value-Chain Strengthening
Improving aggregation, processing, cold storage and market access so producers capture more value.
Finance & Blended Models
Connecting viable opportunities to grants, concessional finance, investment and revenue-based models.
Measurement, Learning & Scaling
Tracking results, learning from implementation and using evidence to strengthen and replicate viable models.
Our Approach
Start from the bottom. Build upward.
We begin with the realities of a place — its people, resources, needs, opportunities and existing systems. From there, we identify what is missing, what can be strengthened and what needs to connect. Then we bring together the appropriate stakeholders, infrastructure, finance, technology, knowledge and market relationships to build a system around the opportunity.

View Project →Cocoa Aggregation
Working with an established cocoa farmers’ cooperative to build a stronger aggregation and market system, backed by solar-powered post-harvest infrastructure and better connectivity.
View Project →Cassava Last-Mile Systems
A clean-energy cassava processing machine and last-mile infrastructure connecting local production to processing and markets.
View Project →Why It Matters
Building systems that can work beyond a single intervention.
We look beyond a single piece of equipment or project to the systems around it. Each element only creates value when it connects to the next.
Build With Us
No single actor can build a stronger food system alone.
Bottom Up Impact works with communities, governments, investors, businesses, infrastructure and technology providers, and development organisations.
Bottom Up Impact

From the ground up, Bottom Up Impact connects people, resources and opportunities to build food systems that are more productive, connected and resilient.
